Chimes
Chimes are individual audio files played before or after speech. Chime TTS includes preset chimes and can discover audio files in a custom chime folder.
Panel-based chime management is currently in beta and may change between releases.
Custom Chimes Folder
Open Chime TTS from the Home Assistant sidebar, then open Chimes. In Folder Paths, select Browse next to Custom chimes folder, choose or create the folder, and select it. Save the change. The folder browser lets you upload files or an entire folder, create folders, rename or delete files, and preview a chime. Supported files include MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, M4A, AAC, AIFF, APE, and WMA.
Changing the folder path or its contents requires a Home Assistant restart before the selector inventory refreshes. After restart, custom files appear in chime selectors alongside presets.
Uploading chimes
From the browse popup's three dots menu button, select Upload Files to add individual audio files, or Upload Folder to add all supported audio files from a folder while preserving its subfolder structure. If files with the same name already exist at the destination, choose whether to overwrite them or upload only the files that do not conflict.
Downloaded Chimes Folder
This required folder stores downloaded chime MP3 files. Its default path is {root}/media/sounds/temp/chime_tts/chimes/.
Preview and offsets
Use the preview control in the panel to audition a chime. Individual chimes can have an offset: positive milliseconds add silence before the following segment; negative values overlap it. A Chime Set member can supply its own per-member offset instead.
Individual chimes and sets
Choose an individual chime for a fixed sound such as bells. Choose a 🎲 Chime Set to randomly select one member. A Chime Set is a reference, not an audio file, and cannot contain another set.
